WELCOME TO FOUNDATIONS!
FOUNDATIONS is the 6th grade Catholic faith formation program at St. Frances Cabrini. This year FOUNDATIONS will incorporate a sacrament prep component to supplement the formation already being received at home, in order to help prepare 6th graders to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Spring of 2019.
Throughout the FOUNDATIONS year, students will explore the four pillars of the Catholic Catechism (The Creed, Sacraments, Life in Christ/Morality, & Prayer), along with a focus on specific topics as the Rosary, Parables, Gifts & Fruits of the Holy Spirit, and Virtues.
FOUNDATIONS uses various resources and materials to generate lively discussions, presentations, and prayerful reflection. 6th graders will experience Adoration at least twice throughout the program year in their Small Groups and attend a Confirmation Lock-In Retreat in February 2019. Families of FOUNDATIONS students are invited to attend four FOUNDATIONS Family Prayer Nights throughout the program year. Family Prayer Nights offer opportunities for catechesis, fellowship, and worship!
Schedule & Format:
FOUNDATIONS offers a format similar to EDGE, in order to assist 6th grade students in their transition, the following year, to the middle school program at St. Frances Cabrini. Students will receive large group teaching/discussion followed by small group reflection led by Adult Small Group Leaders & Peer Leaders. FOUNDATIONS Small Groups facilitate fellowship among peers and allows students the opportunity to grow deeper in their spiritual life by gaining confidence in talking about their Catholic faith.
FOUNDATIONS is held on Monday evenings from 6:30pm-8:00pm and closely follows the Religious Education calendar for 1st-5th grades.
